IDS (Information Delivery Services)

The Information Delivery Services (IDS) office is here to help you get access to information you can't find at Fraser Hall Library. This includes borrowing materials from other libraries; purchasing materials from publishers and vendors; and even delivering materials in our own collection (including our closed Periodical Storage area).

  • Through IDS, you have access to over 2 billion books, media items, and journals from over 10,000 libraries worldwide.
  • Books, CDs, and DVDs typically arrive within 3-7 business days and are placed on hold for you to pick up at the Service Desk.
  • Journal articles and book chapters are delivered electronically and typically arrive in 1-3 business days.
  • You will be notified by email whenever one of your requested items has arrived.

Getting started

You'll first need to set up your IDS account. Simply sign into your IDS account using your Geneseo username and password. Once you've signed in, you just need to provide some basic contact information, such as your phone number and email address. This will allow us to notify you when your items are ready, or contact you if we are having any difficulties getting your requested materials.

Placing requests

If you already know what you want, you can sign into your IDS account and place your request. Simply select the type of request you wish to place, enter as much information about the item as you can, and submit the form.
